NY Restaurant - Veselka
Monday, December 13, 2010
I was hanging out in the East Village this past weekend and we went to a popular Ukrainian comfort food mecca - Veselka. I had a Pierogi feast - filling assortments included: short rib, ham & gruyère, arugula & goat cheese, sweet potato, sauerkraut & mushroom, traditional potato and more! They're awesome by themselves but when you top them with the sour cream and diced fried onions... sheer enjoyment! 3 Tines/4 Tines for short rib pierogi.
Next time I'm back in this area of NYC, I'm going to go for the Lamb & Feta burger w/ roasted red pepper relish.
The Veselka Cookbook seems like a very good Christmas gift idea, not for me, I don't cook, I eat, but for other foodies on your shopping list.
Desserts: Their cupcakes are pretty good, 3 Tines for serving them room temp. The rice pudding is white and creamy, 3 Tines for no raisins. The Chocolate Custard is mind blowing. The name sounds simple, but it's a 4 star dessert (4 Tines) worthy of the best restaurants in the city. - Thanks Jennifer for treating!
Rating System:
