not a fan of horror movies in the least bit, and I especially loathe the hand held, found footage, lost footage or shakey quakey camera action. I'll never understand the motives other than money for the "film maker" and the motives of the movie goer for these schlock stories. Give me a good psychological thriller like Rosemary's Baby, The Omen, or The Exorcist, now those are some scary films.

Have not tried the Chicken Quesadilla. Looks good ...

I was supposed to go see this movie last Thursday night, but couldn't go because I was nursing the flue away. And I got comp's too, so I was REALLY bummed about it.

Glad to find it that it was a charmer. Maybe I can catch a matinee. I'm feeling much better now. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I'm stopping in from SITS. I'm so shocked about having gotten the flu (I NEVER get sick) that I'm still trippin' about it...

Personal side note: I had a great time at the XPN Music Film Festival despite my ongoing dispute with World Cafe Live. I'm very disappointment in their refusal to act with any consideration to an issue I had in February: During a concert at WCL, my car was wrongfully towed (7pm) out of the lot they reserve for patrons. Despite my attempts to contact management thru emails, phone calls and facebook; no one at WCL has ever apologized for the expense and inconvenience this incident caused me.

Yes, some films are like that, you don't want to miss them, but you're not sure you can handle all the emotion. I felt that way about "We Need to Talk About Kevin" and never did see it.

Bulllying seems so much worse now than when I grew up. My older son has been a friend to the bullied throughout high school. He has organized after-school pickup basketball, supervised by a teacher who volunteers, and invited kids to join chess club. I'm thankful that he has not been bullied AND that he is comfortable and confident enough to reach out to those who aren't. It's a quiet ministry -- and I am thankful he chose it. (I believe that he is so sensitive b/c his little brother with special needs has often been a target)

nice recap. it was one of the better awards ceremonies I can remember in YEARS! And so much better than last year's pandering to who, no one! The younger set didn't get it, the older folks didn't appreciate it and us middle of the road aged folks felt belittled! Billy was a fine host - after Carson, who else could handle the mantle so well? Every comedian has flopped under the pressure. The dresses were all just fine and I was happy to not see anything so terrible, though it didn't give us enough fun fodder!

I liked red tails as far as it went. I felt it ended slightly abruptly. I had slightly lowered expectations due to so much press commentary ahead about what the find didn't do or did do, or if it was deep enough, or whatever or just a more superficial adventure. I thought it adequately told a needed story well enough and I was entertained. I did believe that Cuba Gooding Jr's role was too small and underwritten. He has done a much better job in many a film. He needs to do some Uta Hagen work with that awkward pipe he was chewing on the whole time. He seemed very unnatural. Terrence Howard also had a small underwritten role, but seemed to get more oomph out of the brief moments and hold the screen more. He did not come across as wooden as Cuba.
