There's a list of Bond movie parodies a mile long, and easy to Google, with Austin Powers of course topping the list. But it looks like Melissa McCarthy and writer/director Paul Feig's SPY is coming in a real close second, as this secret service comedy has all the right elements to become a successful franchise!
McCarthy's movie career skyrocketed after her role as the hilarious, tough talking, puppy loving sister of the groom in Feig's 2011 Bridesmaids (click for T&T) I skipped "Tammy" and "Identity Thief", they seemed like cheap variations on the Bridesmaid character, but she and Sandra Bullock nailed it in Paul Feig's buddy cop comedy The Heat (click for T&T post) in 2013. Spy, however, shows all of McCarthy's range, including some major action scenes. And the one liners - many of which I'm certain just spewed out of her in the heat of the moment, had our audience laughing so hard you missed the next two or three lines of the movie.
Have you seen this clip from Jon Stewart's The Daily Show where Melissa McCarthy is wearing him? It looks like she's lost some considerable weight in this clip, I guess all that running, shooting and wrestling with Jason Statham paid off.

Quick T&T Synopsis: Susan Cooper (McCarthy) is a trained CIA agent, but she's part of the basement crew that handle analytics, computer forensics, running data and most importantly, being the eyes and ears of the agents in the field. Susan works closely with a Bond type spy Bradley Fine (Jude Law) who she's been crushing on big time, and you know he knows, playing with her affections - taking her to a fancy dinner after a successful mission and giving her a velvet jewelry box, only inside is a big, plastic, cupcake necklace with goofy eyes. Fine, laughingly exclaims, it seems so "her". Although insulted and disappointed, Susan begins wearing the childlike custom jewelry under her clothes at all times, and when Bradley Fine is killed in action, and it's revealed all their top agents have been compromised, Susan volunteers to be put in the field to get some Intel on the killer, atomic bomb/black market selling/elaborate coifs wearing - Rayna Boyanov (Rose Byrne). The Intel gathering quickly becomes full on action and surprisingly Susan's got mad skills!
The Black Tribbles were once again in attendance at the same screening, so they asked if I wanted to join in for another post screening episode of "Spoiled Tribbles" I am like so bad at this off-the-cuff, haven't gathered my thoughts yet, improv stuff, but it is fun! So thanks Len (Bat Tribble) & Kennedy (Storm Tribble) for including Buttercake Tribble once again. Click for San Andreas Spoiled Tribbles Podcast
