I receive many submissions from freelance writers who wish to Guest Blog as a way of also promoting a link to another business. It's mutually beneficial in that it promotes blog traffic, still, I'm very picky when it comes to doing this. I don't want Tinsel & Tine to become too commercial, especially since I don't get paid to post these "Guest Posts". I retain carte blanche when it comes to editing these pieces, and if I'm not interested in reading the article, than I don't subject my readers to it.
Sinister and links to her other reviews) I met her last spring at the BlackStar Film Festival and we just hit it off! She's a freelance writer who also loves movies and I asked her if she wanted to guest post now and again. Last week, I even asked her if she'd be able to attend a roundtable interview with director Fede Alvarez in my place (interview scheduled to post April 5th).
I've decided to no longer lump her in with the "Guest Bloggers" She's now a contributor of "Candi's Corner" She asked if she could add in reviews of DVD's she sees on Redbox, in addition to films in the theater and other film stuff.
LOOKING FOR A SECOND BLOG CONTRIBUTOR: I need a man's perspective too. I turned down several press screenings in recent weeks to films which I really had no interest in writing about: Dead Man Down, A Good Day to Die Hard and Olympus Has Fallen. It's not that I don't like to see these male dominated action films; it's just other than a quick facebook review, I'm not inspired to create a whole post after screening these films. Plus, I'd really like to increase my male demographic.
