This Week Philly Eats (Mardi Gras 2011)

 So tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, 

Shrove Tuesday! 

And Philly is alive with indulge all night then give it up Wednesday (Ash) festivities:

Before Mardi Gras was an over the top New Orleans carnival, it was a day in France for getting rid of foods forbidden at Lent, like eggs and dairy, and eating as much as possible before fasting. In a few words: it was a day for crepes.

This was my first time baking a King Cake and if I say so myself, I think it looks pretty good!  How could homemade, sweet yeast bread filled with brown sugar, butter, pecans and cinnamon which is then rolled into a coffeecake, baked and topped with icing be bad?
