Does anyone know how to write code for a tic-tac-toe game in Visual Basic? I know it must have something to do with a timed looped event, so that the first click is "X" and the second click is "O", but I'm stymied.
What does this have to do with the Film Fest? Nothing. Except, I was so frustrated with this class project that I almost missed my second film.
But I soon settled into the humor, angst and subtitles of Love, Soccer and other Catastrophies (Italy) and all thoughts of loops and syntax was put aside.
I'm sure there are as many films about "Football" in Italy as there are movies about Football in America, but as someone who hasn't seen an over abundance of soccer movies, I was impressed with the threading of the game into these character's lives.
The film is a little "Desperate Housewives" mixed in with a little "Thirty Something" many of the characters lives are intertwined on and off of the soccer field, with emphasis on the five guys that play a weekly do or die, everything must stop, leave your problems on the sidelines "amateur" league match.
The problem being as they say, "On the field as in Life", so whatever each guy is experiencing in their personal lives shows up in their playing. From popping too many Viagra and Steroids in order to keep up with a 23 year old son and 23 year old girlfriend, to putting marijuana in a quiche to rev up a marriage bogged down in diapers and duty, to untimed pregnancy with uncertain paternity, the sage advice of "The Missile" , along with business betrayals and divorce. All done with humor and likability.
